Last night I was mildly drunk. I fell asleep after eating some ice cream. I got up to half-asleep change clothes before climbing into bed. I could not get my shirt on. So I looked at it, adjusted it and tried again, and again.

Then I realized it was a pair of sweat PANTS.

We went to the Omaha zoo last week. We met up with my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, and had an amazing time. I love the armadillos (they look like little wind-up toys running all over the place) and the aquarium, and the JELLYFISH (looked like electric smoke)!!! Perhaps I will have pictures at some point.

I only have about a month left before everything starts getting absolutely crazy around here. I’m starting to get a little more antsy and nervous about everything–especially teaching, and about being able to afford a place, and about not getting lost using the bus system. I’ve never used public transportation–besides the subway once in New York with much guidance.

Okay. I’ve lived in places with populations around 10,000-12,000. I’m moving to a place with a 563,374 population (according to this place). And I don’t think that counts all the surrounding area. And water? I’ve never lived around water! Though my parents do have a pond in their back yard…

In other news: Tonight I’m taking a trip to the dirtiest bar in town.

I have lived in Missouri for about 20 years. Before Missouri, it was Massachusetts, but I don’t feel that living there influenced me too much–besides pronouncing a few words kind of funny. My Missouri drawl is much stronger, and I wonder if I’m going to sound like a redneck in Seattle.

Now that I finally realize I’m leaving the state in a few months, I feel the need to writing something distinctly Missouri. And I have no idea what that would be.

Yesterday in The St. Joe News Press, I read a little story about how the police and fire department had to help a boy out of the mud. He was stuck.

This is why I love small-town newspapers. Oh, that and the time a kid made the cover of Maryville Daily Forum because some of his deer antlers were stolen.

I hate all deep sleepers. All of you.
